The reserve’s territory

baie St Brieuc
The Nature Reserve is located in the bay of Saint-Brieuc background, on the north side of Brittany (Côtes d’Armor department). The ground of the bay of Saint-Brieuc is divided into two smaller bays by the peninsula of Hillion. In spite of this natural division the two bays form an ecological entity that encompasses all habitats characteristic for a bay: intertidal zone, reed zone, mudflats, salt water marshes, dunes. All these elements justified the creation of the nature reserve of the bay of Saint-Brieuc on April 28, 1998

The area of the nature reserve amounted to 1140 hectares of the 3000 hectares of the intertidal zone of the bottom of the bay of Saint-Brieuc (38%).
